If your code works with the DS1307, then it should be fine with the eeprom. The only difference is that the eeprom will not be addressable while it is busy writing its page buffer. The DS1307 RAM is instant.
So check the WP, A0, A1, A2 pins. David. the 4 pins you mensioned are connected to GND & checked using multimeter & are at ground as intended. Next thing I am going to do is reduce bit rate to 25k (669 was communicting with 24c16 at 60k[refer to my original post] so lets try a lesser speed with 668) I will post the outcome.
