#16045 - RE: PROM and EPROM - idiom |
Hi all,
There are bytewise EEPROM's parallel, but they are never used due to the fact that they are VERY expensive and NOT in system ERASABLE. If you (Hazel) are planning to use a flexible way of reprogramming your targetboard, you SHOULD consider using a FLASH. The Datasheets can be found on the AMD site (www.amd.com). components like AM29F010, AM29F040, ... are 8 bit oriented. AM29F100,...AM29F800 are both 8 and 16 bit wide (BYTE MODE PIN). Read these datasheets and see how simple it is to build your own flash upgradeble device. There is only one drawback .... :( The flash that runs code cannot be erased nor written! You could use a second flash or execute from RAM ! The second option is less expensive but you need ram to do the job. Bert Regards. |
