#16071 - RE: PROM and EPROM - idiom

when i say "PROM", i am usually
talking about the PROM on my/our
board, where my 8051 program
resides. as in, "I think the
wires are broken on the PROM."

so, i am not thinking about what
form of PROM it is. at different
manufacturing stages it will be
in different forms, Flash,
EPROM, OTP. (such as, Flash/OTP for
one board, Flash/EPROM/OTP for
another).

if i want to qualify what type it
is, i will say EPROM or One-Time
PROM, but then i am usually talking
about it as a specific hardware
device, not as a generic hardware
device that happens to contain my
code.
