Go to your local warehouse distributor and buy a calibrated and high-end (at low-cost) tool to count your components faster. They all have great features, that you may like.

Building your own STOCK-counting tool is nice, but very expensive! If your company cannot afford one, how can it be possible that you need to buid one?
