Bert and Gill , i see your point in not squandering energy on re-inventing something one can buy off the shelf.

I am planning on interfacing this unit with our existing management information system which will mean that there will be no data capturing on counted stock afterwards nor would any stock need to be entered manually after purchase. One would simply put the quantity on the scale and it will be added or deducted from the ex-stock database automatically ( After entering the item-number of course)

What i am really working towards is a real-time update on all components going to rework-centers or Labs within our company.>> without any data capturing

I was just thinking there would be a simple yet effective way to measure the weight of DIL/SMT semiconductors.

If there was any way that i could pass 100's of 1000's of different components pass a sensor without them getting stuck together i would rather go that route. :)
