Melt, I have coded scales, now more than 500.000 are made. If you go your own beware of temperature drift, the loadcell bridges are very temperature sensitive. Also, they are not very linear. To obtain a reasonable fast reading you must read the cell with the equivalent if a PID without feedback. Coding the weighing part of a (mass produced certified) scale to comply with the regulations from "weights and measures" took about one man year for a person that had coded scales for 10 years plus.
