Andy now you know I respect you and consider you a major resource for the 8051 family but this is a bit short sighted don't you think? :-) In my experience code banking is a very common approach to 8051 developers. I think that The direction of Philips, Dallas and Triscend with expanded address spaces indicates that the 8051 gets utilized in many applications that expand beyond the basic 64KB limit. Especially now that the execution speed of the 8051 core has increased dramatically. IMO dropping > 64KB support is probably a market limiting choice. |
