#22588 - RE: Code size of a typical 8051 application |
"Can I take this opportunity to ask if 8051-based code and/or data banking would be as effective as using x86-based chips? "
I have no Idea, left the x86 world ages ago; however I will answer the implied question. 8051 banked is not as effective as using the MX chips or the XA or, if you have to, the '251. When the possibility of requiring more than 64k comes up I run as fast as I can to the XA. Erik |
