Mohit, I think that solves your problem (at least solved mine... :-) :

The max1857 has a Vi of 2.5V to 5.5V and a and an adjustable Vo from 1.25V to 5.5V up to 500mA.

They have a full range of voltage regulators... some will work for your project...
