The data sheet is very bad, I followed the procedure exactly with no luck, the LCD would be initialized sometimes some other times it won't.
My collegue told me to magnify the timing delays in the datasheet by 10. I did that and it still didn't work reliably. I searched the web and found the LCD page I mentioned in previous LCD thread and used it s intialisation routine which worked great and still working till now.
I think the datasheet is wrong!
