it is not possible to find out the cursor position where as you can keep track of the position.
when ever u want to display any character first you have to do is to find the location, this is possible by giving the required adddress location. it is available in the LCD's manual. u can keep a counter where the cursor is advancing, by reading the counter value u can identify the cursor position.
