The 8th bit is the BUSY FLAG. The address is on the remaining 7 data lines which will be valid at the falling edge of Enable. The data lines are bi-directional, controlled by R/W high for READ. When Enable is raised set up MCU port for input and MOV that port's contents wherever you wish. The LCD will make the address and busy flag available approx 350ns following the rising edge of Enable.
