#32609 - first 8051 uC! |
A year ago I started studying the 8051 using the Dallas DS5000 microcontroller. I chose it because it has an onboard bootstrap loader which allows a person to download an assembled file directly into the IC itself. I use a com port on my PC and communicate via the software available for free from the Dallas/Maxim website. After modifying a program, I can download it into the micro in just a few seconds. Incredible, but I strongly recommend the manufacturer's book regarding this "secure" microcontroller.
It appears there are other micros similar to the DS5000 with an onboard loader? What are their part #'s so I can look up the data sheets? Great site, thanks. |
