I also don't like big IDE's that much. I like and am used to xemacs, don't much like many other IDE editors.

A good editor, make, grep and a decent compiler ... that's all you need really.

Only stuff I can't fix with xemacs under Windows is that it gets upset when it thinks teh file has changed on disc, and it insists on opening with a useless DOS window. Off to another newsboard to ask why ...

I also think that SDCC is quite well documented, and at least if you have a problem there are plenty of folk to ask. I just haven't gotten around to getting it settled in properly.
