You are correct in principle Terry. There are situations where safety is critical, but then I would expect there to be other forms of backup ... interlock, etc.
But say the switch is on the same small board as the uP. Why should there be more noise on a switch pin than on, say, an I2C bus? If we don't trust that switch pin, how can we trust the hardware at all? |
