I've had a project idea thrown at me in work, and I'm wondering is this is possible using c51 or whether or not it would need something bigger...

The project requires a 64 key membrane keyboard input and a 25x4 lcd display for output.

The handset would talk to hardware sending a 5 byte packet and receive a 20 byte text packet in reply which would need to be echoed to the lcd display as text.

I've never worked with lcd's or keyboards before, and I am unaware how many inputs or outputs these things need.

My first impression is that the c51 should be able to handle this...

Can anyone give any comments of advice on this and recommend any particular chip for the project... Preferrably Atmel, & ISP.

And if you have any other input to this project idea it would be greatfully received as time is short and I already have three other c51 projects on the go and I only have two hands :)
