#36640 - RE: Selling used items in 8052.com forum |
"Has the idea of using a sub-forum for sales with a small percentage of the agreed sale price going towards 8052.com upkeep been considered?"
Kind of like a mini-eBay. :) Actually, the thought had crossed my mind in the past but I decided against it because 1) eBay already does it, and probably better than I would. 2) For it to work, 8052.com would have to collect and distribute the funds which is more work than the "small percentage" of contribution would be worth. 3) Fraud situations could arise, like in eBay, where people don't ship the product that 8052.com has charged the otehr user for, or the other user uses a fradulent credit card. For these reasons I stopped considering that option. :) I put the 8052.com Online Store up in the hope that purchases of products from known 8052 vendors would help fund 8052.com. It has helped somewhat, but not as much as I had hoped. So far, the only thing that seems to work to generate funds to keep 8052.com going is the banner advertising--which is too bad because I know how many people feel about banner advertising. But, thusfar, it's the only thing that keeps 8052.com running. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
