#40649 - RE: You still need interrupts. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi,
Waqar have you worked out the option as usual to keep polling the serial receive flag or this time you really want to use serial interrupt for receiving the data from PC. Have you done away with the hardware, the schematic. Believe me you only need one MAX-232 chip with a serial cable of around 3 foot length. That's it !! Do you know Visual C or Visual Basic. if yes, then you can make a very cool GUI for your PC to control your clock thru the serial communication. Although Hyper Terminal, LookRS232 will work equally good but without any GUI. LookRS232 isn't free. I can send you a free terminal emulation program once Craig gave me, its a good one too and works fine with micro. serial port. Please visit this site <http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/projects.html> and find out serial communication and RS-232 projects. You will learn a lot. its only 3wire connection between your PC and micro (but preferably thru MAX-232). Do let me know (here on the forum) if something isn't clear. Don't worry, we will all get your clock working with your PC :) One thing you got to confirm: Is clock accuracy your concern or you just want to run it for learning ?? Bye Babar |
