Dear Harnam,

With the 89c51RD2 you can start straight away. ( If you get the chip with a H after the RD2 then it is a older version. But no problem application wise )

Step 1: Build the basic circuit with the 89c51RD2 + 12Mhz crystal + MAX232 + Reset circuit ( if you can provide a Reset controller - its really good. Else you can manage with a 10MFD capacitor to start with) and a GOOD regulated 5V power supply that can support upto 1 Amp comfortably.

Step 2: Download AN461 PDF file from Philips site and UNDERSTAND the ISP procedure.

Step 3: Download the Flash Magic ISP software from www.esacademy.com and install it in your PC.

Step 4: Make or buy a good serial port cable to link the MAX 232 to your PC serial port.

Step 5: Get familiar with Flash Magic.

Step 6 : Have hyperterminal on your PC ? OK then write your first program to send Hello World from MCU to PC. Download it to the MCU with Flash Magic. Run it.

When you see the "Hello World" on the PC, you can hit the nearest bar and drink till you - OK you decide that. Its OK to freak out once...
