#47609 - RE: K&R Responding to: ???'s previous message |
"Actually, "K&R" (The 'C' Programming Languge, by Kernighan & Ritchie) is more of a reference manual for the 'C' language - every 'C' programmer should have one, but I wouldn't recommend it as a text book from which to learn 'C'."
I'm surprised you say that - it's written in a 'tutorial' style and begins right from 'Hello world'. It isn't much use as a reference book though, particularly as it covers very little of the standard library. The most complete (and concise) reference I'm aware of is 'C - A Reference Manual' by Harbison and Steele. In fifteen years of C programming there have only been a handful of occasions I've been left with unanswered questions by that book. |
