OMG no!! Please do not recommend the 8255. It is not any longer a suitable recommendation for I/O expansion of any microcontroller system. Come a day soon the last remaining manufacturers will be discontinuing this part.

Don't think so.......Well I just got word via an email a few days ago that Fairchild is set to discontinue transistors numbered 2N3904, 2N4401, and 2N4403 in TO-92 packages.

Old familiar parts are departing this world at a fast pace. 82C55's will be gone soon as will the original rom-less parts like 80C31s and 80C32s.
