The point of the question was to clarify the meaning of the term and, thus, whether it truly applies to the 8051 or not.

Now correct & accurate terminology is important - otherwise nobody will know what you really mean!
eg, lots of 'C' programmers fail to distinguish between variable declarations & definitions - and you can find several threads on this very forum where that has caused them problems!
