Utter Crap.. Dangerous utter crap... One of my main clients ,main employers is the Conoco refinery in the link below.. If I were to repeat your statement above to the safety manager ,I would have my arse kicked of the site immediately ,and rightly so.. when the Refinery exploded 2 years ago (see link below) it was felt 25mile away .. I live a mile away , and it was scary.. Yes well. You're quite right, Abhishek is WAAAY wrong. <rant> I used to work on projects over the river at the BP plant in Hedon. It was a safe site, and to get to the labs you had to drive through the refinery. The security people would search your cars and remove items like the lighter, or a torch. "For safety" I got bollocked for hiding the cigarette lighter to avoid buggering around, to the extent that I was going to be banned from the site by a spittle flecked oik with a security badge. That was until the head of the lab pointed out who I was and what I did, and that if I was banned the security man would be looking for a new job.... Because once the lighter was removed you could DRIVE with your car, 10 gallons of petrol and 1200Watt hours of energy in the battery, with an exhaust pipe at close to 600 degrees ONTO the site. The car was much, much more of a hazard than anything else I could carry. Its not a dissimilar argument to the "you mustn't use mobile phones at the petrol station". - and then folks leave their cigarettes lit inside the car..... </rant> Steve |
