#49846 - RE: Circuit vs. chip? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hello,
In my opinion, Erik passed on valuable information with good intentions, I think there was no need to verify its truth. A similar thing happend in a product I was manufacturing, the original DS1232(Dallas) was working, but the ADM1232(Analog Devices)was not working correctly in the board, it was reseting the micro continously. I suspected the ADM1232, on looking up its data sheet, it seemed to be a improved upgrade to the DS1232. The promblem was actually excessive ripple on the +5V line, my technician had soldered a 10uF/450V electrolytic capacitor instead of the 1000uF/25V, the compononent supplier had made the mistake, both of the looked exactly alike. The suprising thing is that, the improved version did not work under those conditions but the original worked!! Regards, John. |
