The JFDI methodology is the only one I have found which has been implemented across all the companies I have worked for, for this you need:-
1) A Timescale which is stupidly short. 2) Incompetent management. 3) A customer who does not know what they want. With all these in place, you'll find in the last month or so the managers ask how it's doing, and you tell them your are awaiting clearance from the customer, or for the hardware guys to do something, or the database group to do their bit. At this point they tell you to "Just f**king do it" and the methodology is implemented. One which works is soemthing my old boss told me years ago: All projects take 20 days. The first 5 days are taken up with enthusiasm for a new project, you go great guns getting it all together, and making most of it work. The next 10 days are taken up with drawing the icon, or fiddling with a bit of code you want to optimize, or another fiddly bit. The last 5 days are a mad panic as you realise you have wasted most of the time with that splash screen, or whatever and you have to get it finished. There - done in 20 days. you can exapnd this out for any project, larger ones might take 20 months, shorter ones 20 minutes etc etc. Take the one I am working on now I think 20 years is a good estimate.
