The TI download program is not optimized for maximum download speed. The download occurs at the speed that the Boot ROM code can autobaud, which is much slower than the maximum serial communications at that same crystal frequency. For example with the 1.8432 MHz crystal the download speed is 2400 baud, but it could be 57.6 kBaud. I need to change the download program so that it will change the reload value after the autobaud and then run the download at the higher speed. Anyone who wants to work on the problem, I would be glad to send you the source code for the downloader. It is written in Visual Basic.
