Perhaps you should give coding the jpeg decoder a try. Given your 600x480 resolution, I'm suspecting an 8051 will not be up to the task. You're talking about a large amount of data (by 8051 standards anyway) and the jpeg decoding algorithm is fairly complex.

There is open source code available for handling jpegs, for example the jpeg library (encode and decode functions) at http://freshmeat.net/projects/...=105%2C809

I guess I'm concerned that the 8051 might not be able to handle jpeg decoding, graphics output and all. It will definitely be busy if it can!
