#54899 - RE: Take a look at the Sandisk site
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I would like to add some additonal information to the public fray for FAT system support on microcontroller systems.

First off here is the link to the Free Dos / 32 web page that describes the FAT disk drivers that have been created for that system. This is the code that I have downloaded and started to mess around with. I have had looks at 100's of web sites and code downloads and the code from this site is the code I would put the most faith into....plus it has long file name support if that is

Next I had found some code which is proported to support a FAT16 implementation. I found this stuff on one of those "warz" type websites. I have not looked at the code however and so have no concept as to its usability, correctness, or even legitimacy. So if you are interested click here to download DISKLIB.ZIP but use at your perogative and risk!

Here is an informative Application Note from Analog Devices that describes connecting a CF card to a microcontroller. Click here to see Analog Devices EE-196.

And lastly here is a web site that offers a free set of FAT16 file system code that was originally designed for the eCos operating system. The code is "experimental" but may be a good starting point if FAT16 is a suitable goal for somebody. Click here to visit the Elatec Engineering Web Site. Note that the source code archive that you can download from the above web site is compressed in a rather strange way. I was able to download it and convert it to a standard ZIP file which you can download from here as a ZIP or from here in its original TGZ format. As I mentioned above I cannot vouch for and recommend the code here based upon any experience. You are completely on your own!!

Once again....if anybody is able to get a working general purpose FAT file system going on an 8051 platform using any of the above materials please contact me. My e-mail address can be seen by clicking my name above.
