#57826 - RE: Tools of your trade
Responding to: ???'s previous message
"Andy,I don't believe I suggested skimping on tools"

No - you didn't; and I didn't mean to say that you did.
But I have seen far too many companies - both as Clients and employers - who certainly do skimp on tools, and expect the engineers to get by with 3rd rate gear.
Hence the temptation to rant.

I actually did the sums once and presented them to my then employer: I timed how long in one day I sat looking at the hourglass on my 386sx PC, multiplied it by the full engineering overhead rate, and compared that to the price of a then state-of-the-art 486 PC.
I did get the upgrade!

"The Raisonance package offers support for many derivatives and seems to be good value for money."

I agree - the Raisonance price structure does seem to better support those who don't need the full bells & whistles of Keil.

"Somebody with a Scottish name should probably appreciate that."

I could give a racial joke here (taking care to distinguish that from a racist joke), but I think I'd better not...
