Hi Stephane,
Lint is a program that checks C source way above and beyond what a compiler does...it checks for those kinds of errors that are a real bear to find while debugging. Check out http://www.gimpel.com for their commercial version of lint. They also have a great series of ads, repeated in their site called Bugs of the Month, examples of programs that don't produce the expected result because of logic, syntax, or other coding problems.
