There is a way to bring this topic right on topic. Probably an excellent student project as well. This would be a translator attachment for the clock that would help out those that need to actually check the time before they get out of bed in the morning. Kai mentioned the difficulty he would have before his morning coffee hit.

Using a C8051F020 on an eval board should get the job done nicely.....
