The rtc is not a I2C or other serial rtc, so I guess Eric is forced into using using external memory, as he has to map his RTC in external memory... Say goodbye to port 0 and 2.... Hence my suggestion to use LCD in 4-bit mode, as this way you need 4 I/O-pins for the data, and another 3 for control lines to LCD (That would eat up another 7 pins of the remaining 16...) Leaves Eric with 9 spare pins, to be used for wahtever other requirement, but I guess he needs to scan some keys also... regards Patrick (hope I didn't miss any caps... ;-)) |
