thanks Patrick

im not sure about the diaplay, i got the code from a previous project, (at college) . thats why im so sure about it :)

i might need to change the code slightly, but most of it is done.

beware of "slight changes"... The impact could be larger than you think, unless you now waht you are doing... "Cut and Paste" only works well in the microsoft-word environment.

i saw some guys schematic from a project and he hooked up the display (d0-d7) to the mpu pins p2.p7, (same as a8-a15)

You referred to a8-15, so I assumed you were using port2 as address-lines 8-15... If you use port2 as I/O pins, how will you map your rtc in the external memory map? Maybe it's possible, maybe not... check it out. It's your project.

??

as for the rtc , im not sure about this, can i hook the cs,wr,rd, pins directly to the mpu or will i need a address decoder or something??

I think learning about timing and control signals is also part of the project. Check the data-sheets carefully. I could do this for you, provided I had the proper incentive. But as I said: it's your project... You do the effort and you get the credits...

cheers buddy

eric

Patrick
