ok, i wont fret.

i am doing a rough schematic on a bit of paper before i work on orcad.

i got the lcd connected to port 1 of the 89c55wd. as well as the control signals on the lcd, ..

have rs on the lcd going to int1 on mpu

" r/w on lcd going to T0 on mpu

" ce on lcd going to T1 on mpu

do to d7 on lcd are going to p1.0-> p1.7 on mpu

i have the usual xtal attached to x1 and x2, with 2 33pico caps.

there is also a vari resistor to adjust the lcd contrast.

thats the lcd part of it.

the real time clock next.....and the pulled hair!

i have ad0 to ad7 on rtc connected to port 0

so ad 0 on rtc goes to p 0.0 on rtc
and ad 7 on rtc goes to p 0.7 on rtc.

i have some signals im unsure about, chip select, write, irq rd.......can i connect write and read to the mpu? what about chip select? i need a logic IC do i?

ps: i got the 8051 mixed up with the 8052.....

i should be on 8051.com ??!

the mpu im using is from the 8051 family.....

this is confusing.......
