get true random numbers from any form of deterministic mechanism
If you read the number anywhere but in a timer interrupt it is not truly deterministic. Hopefully your program does not take an identical path every time and thus the time between the reads will be 'random'.

However, my very favourite is a free spinning timer that is read at the time someone pushes a button, that one is true random.
