Hi Panos,
You would be well advised to use the older methods such as a 74HC04 or a 2N3904 discrete transistors because they are time proven. We use to have a saying "if you can't fix it from Radio Shack your don't know what the f... your are doing" Until these newer solution come into the domain of Radio Shack they should be avoided like the plague. You might have a new design out in the world where the only available parts are those I have mentioned whereas these newer items are only in the most modern developed nations.
