You might have a new design out in the world where the only available parts are those I have mentioned whereas these newer items are only in the most modern developed nations.
Nice thought, but
With the reliability of todays electronice and the 'drift' towards replacement at the board level I would not be overly concerned about this aspect.

I recall many moons ago in Europe calling an American company for some screws as spares, the reply was: "just go to the corner hardware store" which, of course was no good since the store carried real (metric) screws and not 4-40 screws.

So, if you produce something and try to appy the concerns voiced by Charles which screws are you going to put it together with.
