Should you want to really see how good documentation is done then search under "Bid Specification" or "Product Specification" for some Military device.

They have teams that write up specification so that they insure the final product is what they want. This leaves out the all of the doubt as to what the product is supposed to do.

The military also has the best film and paper documentation ever invented. Get you hands on some old military surplus documentation and you will be amazed.

IBM use to spend a fortune documenting their devices but because of financial pressure they don't even bother anymore.

In the early days of the IBM PC you use to get a sheet of paper with each daughter board. That practice is long since discontinued.
