Maybe. But just watch out - such kind of abstraction may or may not happen. Depending on the kind of problems that come up in the end product - there may be an occassion where you CANNOT avoid a direct contact with a doctor. And in such an event you will be meeting a doctor for a purpose other than reasons medical!

There was a time before coming into serious industrial stuff, where I helped design a low cost incubator temperature control for new borns, and had to come into contact with some cute nurses by way of collecting data. That WAS fun. ( the prototype was built - but the regular units never came out for commercial reasons )
