As you said, it may be a bit difficult to connect a LCD to 8051 through 8255....but i have got so many things to connect to 8051 as a part of my project.......a dialer chip, a cdrom.It was then that is thought of this option.I do have some(but not much) idea of 8255 and its modes of operation.The main problem i was faced with was about the pin connections for connecting 8051 to lcd through 8255.Yes i did find the pin connections for connecting an 8255 to 16x1 or 16x2 LCD, but not for 20x2, which i wanted.So may be i need to change my choice.

The last mail was my first mail to this forum, and i was really amazed by the amount of response i got from other people.I would like to thank all those who replied and gave me directions about my work....that really helped !!
