Absolutely, and DO implement a watchdog. DO remember that with skill you can craft the design so that a restart is (almost) invisible. You will, of course, need to modify the initial clear of variables to attain this. Another requirement for "invisible restart" is that you use a derivative with internal watchdo and a "power on reset" bit.
