Electric assist power steering consists of a variable speed motor driven pump.The actuator is a hydraulic mechanism but the control is via a variable speed motor driven pump. (EHPS or EAPS)

Electric power steering is direct actuation of the wheel without any hydraulics. (EPS)

The Atmel 89S8252 target part emulates the functional aspects of other 8051 parts. There is usually a misunderstanding that 89S8252 does not sound like an 8051 variant and the common question is that if they follow the same instruction set.
Some development kits have a limitation on the processor crystal frequency and the full speed emulation is meant to convey that a suitable crystal that matches the highest frequency supported by the microcontroller can be connected and the kit will still function.
