It's in the name, you do not drive stepper motors with PWM, you drive them with steps

the concept that i got from your words is that, its not necessary to produce PWM, but the thing i have to generate clock signals. am i right !!!!?

there is some MCU has PCA which generate PWN easily. like AT89C51RD ot P87C51FA. but i couldn`t find this chips, i got AT89C52.

so if my concept is right, i have to use some timers load it with some varibales and then rotate it then shift it to the accumulator.
i have to generate the following control signals to the L297, i,m using two ICs L297 :

1) P1.2-----> Reset ( left and right motors)
2) P1.3------> drive left motor (cw/ccw)
3) P1.4------->enable ( both)
4) P1.5--------> pulse/L
5) P1.6-------->drive right motor
6) P1.7--------->pulse/R

But how to accelerate and decellerate the steps?? i need your help in this case.
