Erik, still I think that it is good to ask experienced peoples as they can predict directions of industry & its requirements in future at least in near future.

Few days back I have started similar thread where in reply Raghu stated in case of RTOS vs VLSI, VLSI is preferable but in case of VLSI vs Embedded, Embadded is preferable.
Even these decisions are depends on an individual's own interests & abilities, still I am confused.
I just want to know that how much the syllabus of the course is suitable for requirements & trends in industry considering technology developments in near future.
I want to know that, Is there any possibility of change in technology so things will be very different than now (This is regarding Embedded sys. development) & all those things part of the syllabus of this course will be of hardly any use.
