I read this thread only today. At the end of it all it just transpires that the only official level syllabus seems to be that from the CDAC link that has been posted. Yes it does seems to be good for a start as all basics are covered - but please be forewarned - joining a course based on the syllabus would be akin to buying a book based on browsing the contents. There is a big possibility that you will be totally disappointed. Unless of course you take care to check the details on the campus / evaluate thier facility / get opinions from old students etc.

It is a sad thing that even in our Metros we do not have any reputed institutes offering genuine embedded training courses. It is not to say there are none. But what do exist do not measure up - all of them are eager to push too much in too short a time.

Pay X Dollars and the course is 6 months. Pay 2X Dollars and the course is 3 months. This "fast track" is bloody BS. Engineering does not run in such "fast tracks" and if it does, it is sure DISASTER.

If you care to know, my other field - Oil Hydraulics also does not have a formal training facility. Even to date it is not a big elective in many engineering colleges. 15 years of on the job struggle, mistakes, correction have been the only way to learn. And still I cant't call my self a professional in this field in the absence of a strong degree and class room drill. Not that my clients feel that way - it is more in my mind. Sad but true.

So guys go ahead and get a Diploma in Embedded Tech. as you plan. But be prepared for some sweating. And PLENTY of reading. And don't shy away from building that first embedded project however simple it is. You will be surprised how much that single effort can teach.
