The fact that something works does not mean that it will work This stupid, inferior, circuit that by no means meet the standard comes out of the woodworks way too often. If you take the time to go through the posts here you will find several posts "I did this circuit (similar to the one shown in the previous post) and I know it works, why does it not work with my new PC. Standards are there for a purpose, not for attempts to circumvent them. The only way to drive rs323 reliably is by driving the lines at the voltages specified in the standard.
