#70456 - RE: Serial communication
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Do you think the converter board and Max232 are the same (or Max/converter better)??

MAX232 & DS275 are always better than the analog board you are talking about. By using the standard components such as MAX232 or DS275 you are assured that your system will work with every PC. your analog board may work with some PC's and may not work with few other PC's.

Somebody tell me when they use a converter (DS275 or analog board), it cause microcontroller sometimes halt (but rarely happen with max 232)!!!
Never use your analog board. As far as DS275 Vs MAX232 is concerned the choice depends on
1. Price DS275 is expensive than MAX232.
2. Board Space DS275 is 8 pin where as MAX232 is 16 pin also DS275 doesn't need 4 1-22uF caps required with MAX232 so ds275 would need far less PCB space.
3. Handshaking signal - If you need handshaking signals i.e. hardware flow control in that case you can't use DS275 you have to use MAX232 since DS275 supports only one TTL->RS232 and one RS232->TTL channel. whereas MAX232 has 2 pairs each. However you can use DS275 with software flow control.
