Dear Christian,
Hello, If you want to drive LEDs and remove MCU without affecting LEDs, I suggest a latch driver please check specifications of 74533(I'm not sure but If I remember correctly I think it can drive low ohmic loads, please check datasheet) and you might pull down or pull high (read datasheet) of latch enable or disable.
