Yes, Michael - that's exactly it!
I have a large assortment of USB-RS232 adaptors (some within multifucntion hubs) - some tend to stay at client site, some at my office. The trouble is, they don't seem to allocate COM port numbers fully dynamically; once an adaptor has been used, it picks a COM port number and "reserves" that number to itself forever more - whether that particular adaptor is physically present at the time or not! :-( Thus I can quite easily end up using COM13!! |
