The simplest way would be to do no checking at all (beyond verifying that the parameter is valid for your MSCOMM call), and just try to open the port; if the open fails, report the error and tell the user to choose again!
Otherwise, you'll have to find some sort of Windows system call - MSDN would be a good place to start... |
